I've wanted to make this engraving for years. I've been constantly sketching and looking up reference photos until I happily came up with the final design. I've always loved the Squid Vs Whale imagery and folklore. Old nautical tales and myths. So I got going, as this was a large engraving.

The block size is 6x8 inches, larger then I normally work. I began with the 2 figures before working on the background.

The Reveal!
After about 3 weeks of engraving and pulling several proof prints the block was ready to be editioned.

The edition printed fairly well. There were some issues with the block shifting and blurring the actual prints in the beginning, but it all worked out!
Finished and Framed!
Squid Vs Whale was printed in an edition of 80 Signed and Numbered prints. Image size is 5x8 inches printed on an 8x10 inch sheet of Zerkall paper.
